Quiet Book finished!

Quiet Book

I finally finished a quiet book for our upcoming vacation. I didn't use a pattern and just added things I thought my little son Antonio would enjoy. If you click on the pictures more details about the pages can be found on the flickr link.

Minky Fleece Blanket

Minky Fleece blanket

Yesteday I started and finished a project that was much needed. My 2-1/2 year old son sleeps with his little tiny minky newborn blankets still and in order to fit under them, he curls into a small ball in his crib. So I decided it was time to make him a larger one for his toddler years. I used some black and white skull fleece from Joann's and some light blue minky I bought for him a while back. Since I didn't have any matching satin on hand to bind, I simply used the same skull fleece to bind the edges. I think it turned out super cute!

Pin cushion complete!

Cathedral windows pincushion

Here is a picture of my completed pin cushion. This was my first attempt at cathedral windows and was very satisfying! I was going to make it into a pot holder but a pin cushion just seemed right. I will be keeping this for myself!

Paper pieced pincushion

Another pin cushion I finished today was this paper pieced butterfly. It's really cute and I think I will use it as a gift :)

MMM Sewing Machine Cover

MMM Swap Machine Cover
So I finally finished the sewing machine cover I made for my MMM Swap on Flickr. I actually sewed and quilted it over a month ago and pieced it together but it took until now to sew the binding on the bottom :) Talk about being lazy! For this project, I first did some machine embroidery and then made my first hexies. I used paper pieces I bought from Connecting Threads. Another first was machine quilting the swirls on the surface of the cover. I really love the effect it had!

Every time I make something new I always give it away... So here'a  picture of the cover I made for myself!
A sewing machine cover for me!
I made sure to add hexies of some of my most favorite fabrics...

By Order of the Management...

Jumping Monkeys Pillow

I finally finished just in time for Sew Mama Sew's Great Pillow Contest! I have wanted to make my little son Antonio a pillow for his bed forever now. He just recently learned how to jump so I thought using the 5 Funky Monkeys fabric was totally appropriate!

Jumping Monkeys Pillow
I digitized the machine embroidery for the center panel then hand embroidered "-The Management" afterward. It's sort of a silly "notice" from the Management a.k.a. his mom and dad :) I used a simple framing pattern for the outer squares and afterward straight line quilted around the panels. I wanted the stitching to be subtle and not the focus of the piece.

Jumping Monkeys Pillow

I used a blue banana print for the back and when I showed it to Antonio he could hardly contain his delight. He just learned how to say banana and was so happy it was on the pillow.

Here is a close up of the back label I sewed on. I really enjoyed making this free-handed pillow. I think the management is going to have to make a notice for his sister's crib soon :)

Owl Card

I decided to take a break from sewing and do some scrapbooking... Then I decided to take a break from scrapbooking to make a card for a local store's contest. The idea was to make a card and use this image as inspiration:

I cute out some paper shapes and used my sewing machine to free motion stitch the edges down. I really like the owl, it was my first time doing anything with an owl theme!
