QAL Block finished and now a pillow

Lily's QAL Pillow
I have been quilting along with Lily's Quilts and made this super cute block from some of my Amy Butler scraps. This was going to be a wall hanging then I decided to make it into a pillow. With just a little trimming, I ended up with a pillow top and stuffed it with a 26x26" pillow form.

I decided to quilt the front and back with small and larger loops. I used Kona Koal for the back and framing on the front circle. I can't wait to give it to the person I made it for!!!

Mini Quilts Just For Me!

Mini Quilts
I finally finished these two mini quilts I made for myself. They will hang on my sewing room wall and hopefully give me inspiration when I really need it. I am a Neptune and Tula Pink lover and these are some of my very favorite prints.

Lily's Quilts Quilt-a-long started!

Lily's Quilts QAL

Here is my finished block for Lily's Quilts QAL... now into week four. I missed the first four weeks so I'm just going to tackle this one block and use it as a pillow or wall hanging.

I really like the scrappiness, I just used scraps from my bin and I think it turned out really springy. I'm really into Kona greys right now so this suits my mood!

Minky Blanket finished

Here is the blanket I finished for my sister Starr. We have been visiting together the last three weeks over our spring break vacation and she even helped me travel with the kids back to Canada and stayed a week cleaning my house! So here is the blanket I made for her....

Minky Blanket finished

I really love the way the top came together with the blue/grey flannel. We used packaged satin binding from Joann's for the edging and a grey minky for the back. We sandwiched the layers with warm n natural and it's not too weighty for summer and soooo soft and cuddly!

Sew Mama Sew Blog prize

Yesterday I was nicely surprised when my prize from Sew Mama Sew arrived! It will be such a huge help because I have to do 99% of my fabric shopping online....

Minky Fleece Blanket

Minky Fleece blanket

Yesteday I started and finished a project that was much needed. My 2-1/2 year old son sleeps with his little tiny minky newborn blankets still and in order to fit under them, he curls into a small ball in his crib. So I decided it was time to make him a larger one for his toddler years. I used some black and white skull fleece from Joann's and some light blue minky I bought for him a while back. Since I didn't have any matching satin on hand to bind, I simply used the same skull fleece to bind the edges. I think it turned out super cute!

Pin cushion complete!

Cathedral windows pincushion

Here is a picture of my completed pin cushion. This was my first attempt at cathedral windows and was very satisfying! I was going to make it into a pot holder but a pin cushion just seemed right. I will be keeping this for myself!

Paper pieced pincushion

Another pin cushion I finished today was this paper pieced butterfly. It's really cute and I think I will use it as a gift :)

MMM Sewing Machine Cover

MMM Swap Machine Cover
So I finally finished the sewing machine cover I made for my MMM Swap on Flickr. I actually sewed and quilted it over a month ago and pieced it together but it took until now to sew the binding on the bottom :) Talk about being lazy! For this project, I first did some machine embroidery and then made my first hexies. I used paper pieces I bought from Connecting Threads. Another first was machine quilting the swirls on the surface of the cover. I really love the effect it had!

Every time I make something new I always give it away... So here'a  picture of the cover I made for myself!
A sewing machine cover for me!
I made sure to add hexies of some of my most favorite fabrics...
